I have been lurking for a few years and thought i would finally join in on the fun. I built my first garden pond about 7 years ago. Like everyone i started out way to small and worked my way up over the years. I started out with a little preformed pond and now i am on my third liner. My current pond is around 1000 gallons. It is 9x8 with a max depth to almost 3 feet. I just keep goldfish as my pond isn't large enough to house koi. I really enjoy working with my pond and enjoy looking at other people's creations. I also enjoy people's own experiences and learning from that. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for sharing their own knowledge they have obtained along the way. I will post a few pics that I have. I look foward to getting more involved and sharing the passion that we all have.

Thanks,
Brian

Hello and welcome! Your pond is really cute and I love the waterfall. You must have little ones? Noticed the fence, but it blends in nicely. So, when is your next upgrade? ;)

Yep that is why I had to get it. I wasn't happy about it at first but I am glad I did. I had to add a couple links in it after I enlarged it the first time. It actually came in handy to because I had a heron visit a couple years ago which forced me to get a net to cover my pond. It works very well and allows me to have some taller plants and keep the net up all the time. Not to mention it keeps the racoons out while still allowing frogs to come into my pond.

Probably won't do anything for a couple years. This year I had to fix the waterfall because it was damanged by the conractors that built my screened in deck. Also my wife accuses my of trying to dig the whole yard up..... I enlarged it two years ago an added an Atlantic ps4000 skimmer. That allowed me keep the pump in and bury the water pipes. Before I had to pull the pump out to clean the prefilter which was a pain....

Howdy...my wife and I have a pond that holds about 2000 gals and we have a few fish and am prepping to install a waterfall bio-filter we bought on Craigslist. So, we are curious and interested in other projects for some ideas to manage our pond.

One thing I am glad I did was to use bricks as steps for the flat rock to lay on. Since it doesn't appear that you have a natural berm like mine I had to build one up with dirt etc. I was worried about it settling and ruining the waterfall so I put sand and bricks to help it from settling in the future. Here is a good video that i used to help me.

You just have to learn to sneak your tweaking in and wife says was that like that you just say yes and you just must have not noticed .Just like when women buy a new dress and hubby says I have never seen that one before have I and she says yes this old thing I have had it for years . :cheerful: been there done that

During the building of our pond, my honey would come home and just say................what did you do / change today lucy! As our grass slowly disappeared.

I was doing a lot of tweaking, now just enjoy. Still could use some more rocks, a friend just told me he has a truck load he wants off his property and is willing to load and bring over some time, can't wait
