Hey!

I bought a house with a huge pond on it (at least 1 acre). I was thinking if we can push a pond little back to make some more room in our backyard for kids to play. I don't know if this is possible. If it's, who would be the right person to do this kind of job? Is it going to be a problem in future?
As you can tell I am new to this whole thing any suggestions/ ideas would be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

Oh my goodness, but what goodness when you figure it out! The only thing I can think of is backfilling with soil and creating a new bank. How you do it? Start with a contractor (is what I would do). Don’t know if you’d need to drain it (or part way) first, but a strong retaining wall will be a must.

Welcome ,

First issue to address is what the pond is classified as with the town, state, and maybe the feds. Was this pond a farm pond, natural pond or man made?

There are many ways you can move a pond over without destroying the original but it is much easier. To build a new pond off to the side or back and then transfer fish frogs etc . But again if the environmentalist have your pond on the radar you may not be able to touch anything.

A co worker too down 50 trees in his back yard that was wetland . Town caught wind of this and he got hit with 25 grand in fines.
