Hi all, trying to finalize my pond design. Main pond will be 12'*20' with a large bog filter. Stumped on design of placement and am wondering if I am putting too much emphasis on shortening pump to bog distance. Land is fairly flat. Here are the two options I am considering. Thoughts or ideas? What is a good distance for a pipe run to a bog?

This may or may not help. In another house, I had a (I called it a ) satellite bog that connected to my box turtle habitat. I don’t have figures, but would would guess that I had at least 20’ - 30’ from the pump to the bog, then another 10’ - 20’ for the return to the pond (bog and pond were connected by 4” PVC return pipe). I had to be sure there was enough elevation of the bog construction in order for gravity return.

distance is not all that important as it is the vertical lift that is what will put the head pressure on the line. but it appears you have a flat lot so three to four feet of lift will probably be your max. that minimal head pressure
