I got 2 books on fish ponds from the libary the other day
and they said with bio-filters the water must run slow though them
does this also count for the big 55 gallon drums we have
so i might get the 1500 GPH pump in stead of the 2000.
and for my discharge i have the 2 inch stright thur drain (do i have to use the off set)
recduing to a 1&1/2 inch pipe which i will use for my water fall
i think the 1&1/2 inch pipe would be big enough for the water geting back to the pond. if not i will use the 2 inch pipe or flex pipe
thanks all

you need to account for all those reductions, elbows, length of pipe, height pipe travels etc. to calcuate your head/friction against the pump. So, if you buy a 2000 gph pump, it really isn't flowing 2000 gph after you've figured all the head.

ah, I'm finally realizing what you mean by these "furnace" filters. It's them air return filters. Since I don't have a furnace, I wasn't sure it was the same thing.

Interesting choice for a media. How quickly does that get clogged up? Do you just dump 'em or clean 'em a few times?

I've never seen these filters without that paper trim around the edges. Are you using the same ones and removing the trim? Or is there some other product altogether?

i did a little more work on my skippy drum to day. i drilled many many holes in the top of the drum. are these enough holes lol. iam still not sure if i will use this for the bottom
grate or the top grate. my brother went to home depot to get me a grate but its a little to thin. so i think i will take it back while i was diveing to my friends house
the guy acroos the st was throwing out gate for the babys to keep them
from leaving the room and it has a grete on that so i took it and i iwll cut it tomorrw
