Koi sick - not sure what it is

Hi there,

I'm new to koi keeping and have a koi which has developed this scab/rot on it's head.
Would anyone know what it would be, the cause and how to treat it?

I had a lot of water lettuce which nearly covered the whole pond. Which I have mostly taken out as wasn't sure they were causing problems with the water or not.
