Meteor Lit Up My Yard

    last night something lit up my yard, I thought the transformer blew. Anyone else see it?

    They had it on the news a huge meteor crossed the sky out your way. It was way neat! Caught on someones dash cam.

    I heard Livingston County MI, which is not far from me.
    ...word is it exploded in air, makes no sense!

    It actually makes perfect sense. Meteors disintegrate as they enter the atmosphere and some even explode. This was apparently a very slow moving (by comparison) meteor which allowed it to get much closer to earth before breaking apart.

    The meteor creates a shock wave when it enters the atmosphere. The one that came to earth over Russia a few years ago damaged thousands of buildings and caused a lot of personal injury just from the blast wave it produced.
