Mosquito Fish - no pump?

Can I keep mosquito fish in a small (25gall) water garden with just plants, no water pump/filter?

Can any other type of fish like without a pump and do well? Need something in there to control the bugs and larva.

I did it in half barrel. Be sure to drop in oxygen generatin plants. A inexpensive little pump would be good to circulate the water.

I have lots of water hyacinth in there. Bought a pump today for it. Will try to make some version of a mini trickle/shower tower by cutting some tubing in half, putting some lava rocks in the tubing and running the water down that. I will add some of my platys in there and if I can get the bio filter going maybe a few guppies.

Why do I make so much extra work for myself? Like two kids isn't enough!
