And here we are today. Not a lot of blooming going on since most of them are new plants and got stressed when I replanted them.....Nevermind the metal bucket, I use that to put the dirt in when I'm planting and I can't lift it so just waiting for my hubby to move it :)

Wow Jen! Just found this thread, was so busy lately never had a chance to look at all the pretty pictures until now. Your pond is really looking very good and I like your nice crisp sharp pictures of the pretty koi! I will have to look again at the pictures after work on my bigger screen! :)

I very much have enjoyed looking at your pond as well. I love how the bog feeds the pond's stream. Job very well done.

Hi everyone! I know its been forever since I've posted. Sorry I've been MIA! Its been a rough crazy year for me! But here I am and finally enjoying my pond again. Here are some new pictures I took this morning. I had to completely redo the edge around the whole thing after the ground shifted this winter and half the rocks fell in and the dirt edge caved some. But I think its a big improvement to how it looks and how secure the rocks are now, especially when my boys are right up close. I also removed all of the rocks from the bottom. When I drained and pressure washed the pond when redoing the edge there were inches of black sludge down there. Lord it was disgusting!! But I think it looks just as good without them now that the liner has turned green. I added a few new plants this year and did a little rearranging, to accommodate a cute little metal table set I got from my girlfriend, but I didn't change much. Added the blue delphinium for my dad. Blue was his favorite color, and I used the blue delphinium when I made his casket spray when we lost him 8 months ago. Dad loved my pond and the fish, and he was really big into hummingbirds. I think he was with me when I brought the new koi home from Indy, I had a hummingbird visit for the first time in years and it hung out with me for the longest time ever! :)

I lost a lot of my fish over the winter :( But I added some new beautiful ones (Thank you Randy!!!) and I took out all my goldfish except that all black one I just cant bring myself to part with. Speaking of which, I have 6 big fancy goldfish that need a home if any of you would like them, they're free. Shubunkins I think and I think the other two are comets with really long fins and tails.

I think my pond finally reached its mature balance this year. I have had no algae blooms at all! My UV light broke over the winter, so no added help there. I never added any beneficial bacteria, algaefix or anything else. Just totally balanced water right from winter through now, and man its been hot the last couple weeks! YAY!

Ok enough rambling...Here are the pictures. The first one is sort of a before and after of what the pond looked like from winter damage to after my changes. And the last one is the new fish I bought from Randy this year.

Addy I'm so glad I followed your lead and built my pond with a bog instead of all that mechanical stuff!! Thank you for all the advice!

So happy to see another bog-loving ponder! Your pond is beautiful - in fact your whole yard is gorgeous!

So sorry to hear about your dad, but what lovely memories you have of sharing your pond with him.
