Hi max384, Welcome! Don't be in a rush to add fish until you read up how to cycle a pond. Re taxes we pay about $8,000 every six months. Thats why I can only afford goldfish!

Yep, They have almost tripled in 12 years. Our monthly tax cost is higher than our mortgage payments. I have a friend that pays $25,000 a year in property tax so I don't feel so bad.

That's unbelievably cheap!. We sit on 1/7th of an acre but they are really taxing the house not the land. On the brighter side 2/3rds of our taxes go the the district schools. The local HS was ranked as having the number one fine arts program in the country. Also the High School just built a state of the art gymnasium for training gymnasts and a couple years ago built a $1,700,000 synthetic running track. Also the HS district superintendent makes a palsy $365,000/yr including benefits!

If I had this house in NJ with this land and the size of this house I would probably be in range of 30 thousand in taxes ,so could never afford what I have here there .The only bad thing here is you pay 3 percent tax on food and clothes 2 things you need LOL .
