My hubby is quite the scavenger  and he built us a new waterfall weir out of a toolbox he fished out of the trash, which he sawed the front for a spillway and added a hole and plumbing for the hose. He used 2 old crab traps which he cut down on one end to fit. Filled the traps with scrubbies and voila! We have our new weir. As our pond is in full sun all day the water was not so clear, since we are still waiting for plants in the pond to grow. The water has cleared up tremendously in just running this for a few hours each day in addition to our pond master filter which we use lava rocks in.

A couple of pics are not so great, camera phone at dusk, but gives you an idea.

That's a pretty ingenious use of materials. Just goes to show you how we can make stuff with whatever we may have laying around. You could probably stack some stone around and hide it well and you won't even see it.
