Greetings! I set up my pond early in the summer and have thoroughly enjoyed it. My pond is about 850 gallons, has a waterfall and approximately 10 goldfish. I have a UV clarifier and use bioballs in the waterfall. I'm already viewing the rest of my yard to expand! Maybe next Spring :). I built a mini doc to cover my skimmer, complete with a hinged lid to access the filters.
The fall/winter season is stressing me a little, as I don't know what to expect. I'm reading a lot and will review the posts in this forum to see what is coming through this first winter for my pond.

To our group! Everything looks great!

How cold does it get there? What zone are you in? JW is zone 7 she has some snow and ice and can leave everything running over winter.
I am zone 6b or lower, I turn everything off, we can be mild or have a very cold winter. Last winter we hit -15.
Few winters before the grass stayed green all winter.

Wow what a nice job you've done and given me some ideas to ponder this winter!!! Can't help with your questions as I'm in Michigan.

Nice pond and rocks Gail!! I got cobbling around my pond too, but I used different rocks that I found down by the river, smooth flat ones that I could find.

I would not stress too much about winter Gail, how cold does it get down there in Texas where you live?
I have hard winters up here in Canada and I winter my fish outside every year since 1991!!! I will help you and so can many others. :)
