Northern Bog Violet

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba which equals insane cold winter. However, my question is about a native plant called a Northern Bog Violet. Has anyone grown this as a water plant? It seems to me it should thrive in a pot in my pond. it is beautiful in the garden but I figure I can never have too many plants in my pond!

The web says it likes wet areas, I would put it in a pot with the dirt/clay above water and just see how it does. It covers the states, except where I live lol
