When you buy Parrot Feather and you get a "bunch" do you break it apart before putting it in the pond, or leave it all banded together?

When you buy Parrot Feather and you get a "bunch" do you break it apart before putting it in the pond, or leave it all banded together?

I use mine by the piece. Stick it in between rocks or can plant ends in media like 100% clay kitty litter w/no additives so it takes root.

I take the individual stalks apart if they are banded together, but it probably doesn’t matter.
