I just received it I a plastic bag.
Mrsclem u r correct.
Can I put just the roots in a shallow part of the pond or do they need to be potted?

I just wanted to thank autocorrect for the humorous typo in your post title!

I have no personal experience with this plant but I’d think it might be able grow in a bog, as multiple sites say it can tolerate wet soil (there are also references to well drained wet soil so I’d think standing water from actually being in the pond would be a no go). However, it’s also known for forming large dense mats which at least in my tiny bog is not a good thing, I already had a problem with the water cress making a natural dam and causing bog overflow (fortunately back into the pond) so something that forms a dense interwoven mat sounds like a lot of work to manage if it really takes off…let us know how it goes, I am conducting a lot of plant experiments this year also
