I just grabbed 2 for 17.99 each less 10% with a coupon.
Are we missing something?
This is what they're advertised for up here.

I should have waited! I have two spares so not ordering any more..............

Amazon has them at 79 right now.

I don't have a clue on the low price, except it is summer and they are not needed right now.

I just grabbed one for $17.49 and added the 10 % off coupon. I also needed Pond Prime, so qualified for free shipping !

@MitchM , now you've GOT to get the pond ready before winter....you're all set :)

When I first bought them, they were listed at discontinued. Maybe we at the GPF saved the company!

Discontinued?
Hopefully it's not one of those products that works well but people don't understand how it works.
I couldn't believe some of the reviews I read from Amazon.
Or maybe there's a new design coming out.

This was years ago. I bought it anyway. Back when you first posted about it. Paid 49 per for my first two.

How exactly does this thing work? I'm a little confused. It pumps water up out of the pond? I've always used the K&H deicers. The one I have now is 250 watts. That device only uses 40 watts.

I'm sure some else can explain it more scientifically than me....my understanding is the small pump which hangs below the water in a plastic cage, pumps the water above the water surface ( there is a heat tape to keep water from freezing ) and then the water returns to the pond.

This accomplishes 2 things, aeration as it disturbs the water's surface and keeps a hole open in the ice - snow, to allow for gas exchange.

I have been using it for the past 4ish years. Our pond at times freezes over solid and deep. I have not loss fish since I started using it. That is what I like!

Right, it only heats up the water that is pumped with the small pump rather than indiscriminately heating water all around the deicer heating element.

I really hate to hoard things, but I couldn't pass it up for the price. Bought the dogs some treats so I got free shipping too. Thanks for letting us know!
