I've seen some great pictures of everyone's ponds on here and I like the underwater lights some of them have. I am thinking about maybe adding them to our pond once winter is over as our property gets kind of dark at night and light might enhance the pond/patio area.

As this is my very first year dealing with a pond, I was wondering if they are difficult to install and/or maintain. Also, do they disturb the fish in any way? (I have 3 koi in the pond).

Mine was no more difficult than setting it on the bottom of the pond and plugging it in; no maintainance. Fish don't seem bothered by it and even eat the algae off it occasionally. I have mine on a timer so it turns off before midnight, just in case the fish don't like having the light on them all night, and so it's not highlighting them for predators. I also use two solar spotlights that shine at the pond, along with other solar lights lining the fence. Plus I have two torches over on one of the fences to add a little extra.

I love sitting out in summer by the pond. I spend a lot of time out there at night. The lighting makes it so relaxing.

Remember to look for LED if you don't want to heat up your water .I use down lights I just don't like up lights glaring in my eyes.Plus underwater ones show everything free floating in the water .But most like underwater ones .I bought LED lights after christmas that are single stake lights and 3 of them light up my whole pond .It makes it easier to see everything at night on cameras

Make a platform out of milk crates or something. Milk crates stack well so if one doesn't bring it up high enough, you can stack two.

Is there a way that you could zip tie them to a pvc pipe and then tie something to the pvc pipe and lower them into the pond and tie them off where you need them .You could use heavy duty fishing line to lower them and then set a rock on top of the end of the line .Elbows on the pvc would let you go around corners

Liking the idea of plastic pipe, i once put a few plastic boxes in the pond for planting but when the spawing time came the koi rubbed against them and tour scales this is one reason British ponds are very smooth sided as not to damage the fish i know but its a think we do lol by the way i told you my pond needs something to make it look, well you no

I had crates and all the fish did was knock them over and I was worried every time that they would eventually put a hole in the liner .I had led lights tied to a pvc pipe at one time but every time I turned around they were leaking .I sent one set back because of it .I even sealed them with silicone and that seemed to only last a little while and silicone would start to peel away .I used the kind the use in fish tanks too .

Flipping love just how a home should be, must admit with jai on patrol round the yard (garden) my fish and pond are well safe for all night time intruders, you may laugh but a pond keeper my dad knows one woke up one morning and found his filter system and over sized uv light and pond pumps were missing somebody had pinched them in the night, but if you sat down and worked out how much money it would cost to replace what you have like for like then you can see why somebody would take the risk and do it.

Gosh glad no one does that here .All I have to worry about is neighbors dogs running loose ,but now people here have been told by animal control about it .The most I have to worry about is a fox or maybe a bear now and then .But I now I have security cameras so that helps .I have a beeping motion sensor that goes off indoors and the light flashes it is plugged into

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. (y) I'm looking forward to spring and seeing the landscaping come back to life around the pond, and the lights will be a nice addition.
