I want to buy a few more gold fish. Should they be quarantined for a few days in a separate tank to be sure they are OK before introducing them to the pond?

Absolutely. Quarantine them for a few weeks. If you have a tank heater, set it to 75 - it helps bring out the nasties in case they are present. If you don't have a filter, you'll have to do many water changes.
