How many gallons of water will a 55 gallon skippy filter? Just new to this site. I think it's great. I am redoing my filter system this year and I have an 8x12x3 pond with a large waterfall and stream. I am using the 55 gallon skippy filter in my basement because we winter the fish in a pond inside. I am curious about the amount of water a skippy will do because I have a 3' 8" x 4' fiberglass tub that I want to use for the outside pond. It is much bigger than the 55 gallon skippy, so I was wondering the amount of water for this reason.

The rule of thumb is that a 55 gallon container will filter a 1500 pond with a normal quantity of fish.

Doing the math on your basement pond, you have around 718 US gallons (or 598 UK gallons). Therefore, your single 55 gallon barrel will be more than enough for it and a larger quantity of fish.
