i have some small deatils about the skippy filter iam building.
it will be placed right behind my pond and should i put the filter on cider blocks
rise it off the ground a little bit and should i make the outlet even with the
water fall or should i cut it above or below the fall and will it over flow?
and should i get a pump sucks up the muck also or should i use my filter
that i have all ready iam sick of sticking my hand in this pond for 15 years
cleaning this freaking filter lol. and can the skippy suck up Mechanical
and keep it on the bottom thats why the drian is there??
and i wont drill any holes on the drum till i line it up with the pond
and where i will put the drain and out let for the fall

You don't have to create a new thread each time you post!

The Skippy or Doc filter are both upflow filters. The outlet that is the overflow is what returns to your pond. That said, it is generally 18" to 36" above the pond. With a 55 gallon version, unless you bury it, will be 36" high.

Your 2" dump valve, must be at ground level and have a place to evacuate the nasty water that is going to be expelled when you clean it.

There is nothing to suck out since the dump valve does the cleaning.

Did you look at the web page I have on these? http://drdaveskoi.tripod.com/html/doc_bio_filter.html
