Squirrel Rehab

I found one of my Buds 2 days ago in rough shape, yesterday I finally was able to catch him and cage him, I took him to my rehabber, we medicated him, he was in really bad shape, he lost an eye, his head was swollen, he had a bad infection in his head, he died shortly afterwards, sad, he’s come around for a few years, last year he cut his nose open pretty bad.
she had about 6 baby fox squirrels in and a baby ground hog, the people didn’t want the mom in their yard, they trapped her, moved her and this little guy was found by the burrow cold and starving. The rest prob died inside the burrow.

This guy, has a stage stride when he moves around, ive see his tail with ice In it in the winter. He’s pretty friendly, good thing, since spring, his tail was swollen and just raw. I gave 3 does of ivermectin, he looks like his tail is healing. The blood redness is gone. You can see how it healed at the base.

I saw the squirrel with the bad tail 2 days ago. sad, it looked like it was healing, his tail was gone, he looked like a rabbit. I’m thinking of trapping him and taking to my rehabber for treatment.

Just have to let him be and he will hopefully survive just fine. He knows where to come for a good dinner anyways!

Saw this guy this morning going in circles in the street. He ran up to me and went up my leg. He ate some fruit and drank some water, now taking a nap. He was cold and hungry

@Burd your love and caring for the poor, needy critters shows through. You are doing good
I hope this little fella makes a full recovery as winter is on the way. He prolly does not have any food stored out there so he may need your help for quite awhile.

My squirrel rehabber is going to take him and release him in the spring. bummer is not here, that 2 fox squirrels that left the neighborhood.
She says he’s between 6-8 weeks old. She said the best food is oxbow mouse and rat food. I ordered a bag overnight on Amazon, the pic is him eating that food. Loves it. He’s too old for a bottle and too much fruit can give them diarrhea, she’s
picking him up tomorrow. She works at 2 Vet clinics, if her rehabs need to see a vet they get looked at. Of all the houses on my block, he came to the rite one
gotta say his pee smells.

Learned a lot with this guy, I kept a bag of food for future emergency’s, she gave me some bottles to feed a young one if I have to. She brought a tub converted into a cage. He didn’t stop eating even switching to a new cage, lol. Looks like he will be ok.
