As Lisa said it's a great idea. I would go so far as to suggest some type of pad under the liner sitting atop the ponds ledge.

Thank you. A very attractive, neat and tidy pond. After seeing it I definitely suggest padding under all areas of the liner. Hope you and yours enjoy the rebuild and get much happiness from your pond.

Thanks Lou, I bought a 11'x11' 4mil tarp ($6) for the first layer, then a 10'x10' Mover's blanket ($7 and pretty thick) for the second and then the PVC liner on top of that. Along with the foam pads and play sand on the bottom it should be good to go hopefully.
I think you have a good plan Jason. Be careful when in the pond and when moving anything. Thank you for being so open to opinions. I could write volumes about my costly pond mistakes.
