unknown cause of death

one of my goldfish died and was clean inside and out of parasites and fungus or any illness. The rest are fine and dart around the pond in a school. why didi it die?

Good question! I had the same thing happen to me early this spring. Everybody was happy, and then one day one showed up dead, in the skimmer. I could find no visual reason for the death and the rest of the fish were healthy (had no problems since). Certainly it would be the time to keep a VERY CLOSE eye on the rest of the fish for a while (more than usual). Good luck.

You may want to check the condition of the water, nitrates, nitrates, ammonia, ph, etc.
