Water Levels: Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, PH, Hardness.

I had the guy at Petsmart write down my Water Levels and this is what he gave me...

Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - below 20ppm
Nitrite - 0
PH - 7.8 (Alkaline)

Now I left without asking him the "Hardness" of the water so I will have to ask him next time, but he did say everything was good?!

Yup nothing wrong with 'them there' numbers.

So life and your pond are good ?

Yep, look good as long as that 7.8 pH value is relatively stable throughout the day.

Charles, last week when I tested it, it was 8.1, then after the big rain it dropped .3, is that ok?

Yeah, for me, a .2~.4 pH change within 24 hours is ok, but it is only borderline ok depending on who is asked.
