Hello all pond enthusiasts. I've had water lillies in my pond for several years now, but I've never seen little holes in them like this. Does anyone know what the cause could be? and is there any safe way to eliminate them if they are pests? i have two Comets. Thanks ☺️

Could be those little caterpillars that turn themselves into burritos — can’t recall the name. Look on the under side of the leaves.

Just cut off any leaves that start to rip tear or turn color

Could be a lot of things - bugs, fish… I’ve even had water bead up on the leaves from rain and over heat in the sun and burn holes.

Won’t bother the plant at all - just remove the damaged ones and more will follow.

Hmm, well I pulled 3 caterpillars off the other day and put them in the turtle habitat. No idea what became of them……

Not sure what it is, but it seems like damage is minimal. Leaves play an important part in nature, and one big part of that is food. As long as your lily pads aren't being completely devoured, I wouldn't be too worried.
