Got the liner, water, filter, and fish in last year before it got too cold. This year it is time to decorate. Come late april / early may I want to get a lot of plants. Looking for a few questions answered. My pond is currently 11x16x3.5ft deep. I may widen / deepen it early spring since I need to figure out a liner leak and if that turns out bad I will be replacing the liner:

  • Is there a place to buy "bulk" lilypads. I love the look when there are a lot of them. Do they have to be potted?
  • Looking for a high sun plant that will grow well in / around the waterfall.
  • What do we recommend as a plant to go in a Skippy filter? Last year I planted parrots feather and it seemed to filter great at the top.
  • I am planning on making my old 200 gallon pond a bog filter. What is the substrate recommendations? Should I even do substrate? The plan was to do a water safe soil layer 3-6 inches deep on the bottom of the pond (its about 1.5ft deepest where I am planning my bog. What plants are the best filter / money.
  • Any recommendations on where to order the plants? I live in Oxford, PA and around here things tend to get expensive.
  • What is the running feeling on duckweed? I have a lot I have been growing in an aquarium because it is a great filter for the fish? Does it get out of control fast? It grows like crazy in my aquarium but do not want it to take over the pond. I like to be able to see my fish.

Morning..........
A lot of us will be giving away lily's in the spring, watch for us to post, just pay postage
lots of different plants handle sun creeping jenny, ground covers, they grow in the ground and around the waterfall just fine.
I had impatiens in the top of my filter, you can put just about any plant that will handle wet roots
pea gravel for a bog I don't have any substrate on the bottom of my pond. But you could put in aracharnis, hornwort both filter well
again a lot of us will be shipping out extra bog/pond plants for postage, just watch the postings
more than one person here has duckweed growing in tanks to toss in the pond, the fish inhale it.
