Wooden Ramp

Having recently dug out for my preformed pond, I realised that because of the lack of some details, when the pond was made. I find that there is no means of entry/exit for our little friends to/from said pond!
Until I come up with a better idea, I have found a couple of pieces of old/used wood decking. I do not intend to keep fish however, but I’m concerned that the decking will contaminate water anyway!
Your opinions would be welcome, also some alternatives for future.

Cheers.

That is a nice little pond. So by your friends are you referring to birds or turtles that might get in there and not be able to exit? I would not use any wood that has been chemically treated even if you don't keep fish. Your pond looks like it has a built in slope (upper left) side and you can easily make an entrance/exit ramp there. One way is to take black, plastic needlepoint material that looks like a screen. Attach it with aquarium safe silicone. Another idea is to attach a turtle ramp in that area using the aquarium safe silicone. Something like this might work:

Remember, anything you do to make it easy for your friends to enter and exit the pond also enables predators to do the same.

Thank you Stephen,
I agree, but just wanted that confirmation we all crave when we’re not sure what to do next. It is always good, they say, to, trust your gut!
As always we do learn something every day. Mine is, your ‘Remember’ statement. My gut didn’t tell me that!
Thanks again.
