Filter for pump

Can I then use the ball valve at the base of the bog to control the water flow or does the ball valve have to be placed at the pump?
The ball valve can go where ever you want to put it. I put mine where I can reach them easily.

Thanks Addy I was a little concerned about backwash having it so far away. My new pump is on the way!! I'm pretty excited. Although it is supposed to arrive the day after I leave for spring break. Oh well, it gives me a project to come home to.

I had ball valves on my pump up at the filter so i could divert more water to there things .This is what I had

The last pic that one is in the filter crate that is on top of the filter and that holds the bags of activated charcoal and quilt batting when needed
