Sooooooo, new Laguna 2000 GPH pump arrived this morning. Is there a way to go from a 1.5 quick connect to our 3 inch PVC pipe which feeds our Sand and Gravel filter?

See I told you, I know NOTHIN about the pond mechanics......but I may just learn yet :)

So called the man who designed the sand & gravel filter and apparently the pump I bought won't work :( It only connects to a hose.

Just ordered an Aquascape pump that should work....will be here Monday. Sigh.....the water changes continue:(

Describe what you are calling a "quick connect". Is it a union?
Maybe you just need to have a piece of 1.5 PVC pipe exit your "quick connect", then get a 3" to 1.5" PVC reducing adapter. Very inexpensive parts and they glue together with PVC primer and glue.

Thank you, will share this thought with hubby and I'll check out the quick connect on the new pump and get back to you :)

It's hard to tell from the pictures in that listing, but maybe there's a threaded female or a threaded Male fitting there. Either way, male or female, see if it's the same type of thread as a threaded PVC fitting. If so, just screw on a 1.5" threaded PVC fitting add a short piece of 1.5" PVC pipe, then add a 3" to 1.5" reducing PVC fitting.
Get the PVC parts at a hardware store, Home Depot or Lowe's. Bring the fittings that come with the pump with you to the store.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I don't think the Laguna outlet is threaded, which is the problem. The Aquascape comes with several threaded connectors......I sure hope it arrives on Monday , since we used Prime shipping.

Meanwhile, just in from another water change, netting debris and feeling sorry for my begging koi! I really appreciate your help, it's given us things to consider and we'll know better in the future.

New Aquascape pump arrived today. I was really impressed to see it comes with several adapters and seals, plus a detailed PRINTED owners manual - LOL !

It's been raining all day, but husband connected it quickly and the filter is back on line. He wants to make a small change in a plumbing run, but at least the filter is working - whew!
