I'm a pretty big strong man. I remember at a national night out I asked the cops how we could intimidate thieves from breaking into our homes. He looked at me and said "well in your case, just answer the door"

But put a wasp within 5 feet of me and I turn into this:

I like bees. There must be a hive nearby one of our ponds because they are constantly coming over for water.

Sadly the best way would be to spray the outside wall with a strong wasp killer. They usually last for a few weeks at least killing anything that lands where you sprayed.

Good luck.

And Yellow Jackets only nest underground.
I've had them build small mud nests under my BBQ, till I found out why there were Y.J's every time I BBQ'd. And once I cuaght them trying to make my small lighthouse their own. No mercy for Y.J's.

Well, it's pouring rain right not, so can't get out to stuff the possible access crack..... But, no bees flying around, either!

There are several species. I am only familiar with the Southern Yellow Jacket which almost always builds subterranean nests.

Totally agree! those nasty things sent me to the ER several years ago. They stopped counting stings at 40 and there were a lot more! We have a problem with voles and the yellow jackets use the tunnels for nests. Hubby has gotten stung every year but only one or two. That puts him out of work for 2 weeks. Me, I'm allergic to Benadryl so steroids for me. Last year we were lucky enough to have a skunk come in and destroy the nests. Hope he's still around. I haven't seen any honey bees this summer.

My scream could shatter glass if I saw one of these coming at me.
OMG!! Look at those stingers!!!! I hope they NEVER, NEVER, NEVER get introduced to this country!

Well, let me tell you...... As I was standing there watching the bees, a humming bird flew so close by my head that if I'd seen it coming, I could have told you what color eyes it had [just kidding, but it was right in my face]. Almost scared the you-know-what out of me -- I did realize pretty quickly what it was, but not before I flinched and made Hubby's day!
