Dead flies falling from tree in pond?

The pond seems filled with these dead flies. I thought they were aphids, but they have wings. And it don't seem to be larvae either so why are they falling dead into the pond, are they trying to mate? I do have like 12 fish so it's nice food for them I suppose. Has anyone had this happen?
