Dealing with tree removal around already established pond

I had some trees trimmed and a dead tree removed near my pond this past spring and this is the first year I had a visit from Mr. Blue Heron. Not sure if it is coincidental, but I never had an issue with herons before I trimmed my tree this spring. I suspect the trees provided enough cover for them to look past my yard, but now my yard is open and airy and sunny.....and so is my pond.

No coincidence! Your pond is more visible, now.....it's a trade-off, so now we both get to look into GBH deterrent netting (or other method). Hope you didn't lose any fish.

I lost medium sized koi, 3 shubbies and 1 comet.

I now have those 24" ornamental fences around my pond with 60lbs braided green fishing line over my pond. Haven't seen Mr Heron since I did that. Fingers crossed its the last I've seen him!
