no expert but if anyone has any questions on the build that might help them. .. fire away.

Very pretty! Mine was a one-woman job (with a couple of exceptions) so I feel your pain! It is hard work -- but so much fun!
When you say "plant shopping" -- where were you able to find some plants? Online? I'm down south and not-so-patiently awaiting the arrival of aquatic plants. Most places are telling me mid-April.
Your pond looks great and can't wait to see it with fish and plants!

Thanks Bagsmom...I'm in the same boat as you waiting till my local nursery and pond store get plants. It can be up to May here. The few plants I have currently are just a few from my old littler pond. The rush grass I divied in 3rd and am mainly using it to help clean the water till I get other plants. I plan to only keep 1 or 2 of the 3. The other plant I curently have is blue pickerel. It was starting to send some shoots of green back in Feb but man March put a halt to its growth. Ducks have really been messy with it they are here 3 or 4 times a day so can't wait till the plants can get in so they can go to work and filter. Plus for the look of it. The waiting is hard ..I've changed my mind 3 or 4 times on what plants I want plus those types might not even be avaliable when they come in....lol

I don't buy plants anymore, have way to many now. But I used to, could hardly wait until they were available.

Well I think I'm done until I get to plant a few more plants in and around the pond. Got the gravel done and my last planters in. Man the ducks have really messed the water up. Lots of duck poo and string algae booming. Netted out some of the poo on the bottom and algae .Actually moved 4 of my rosy reds minnows today to hopefully adjust the water.

Few more pics...20170324_164630.jpg 20170324_164612.jpg 20170324_164559.jpg 20170324_164548.jpg 20170324_164523.jpg

Well the ducks have been gone for about a week... miss them in one regard but not the mess they were creating in the water and surrounding rock. Removed more string algea today with thr the ole twirl a stick routine...lol. Got a few plants at a local nursery and lowes to try and help filter some of the load the ducks left behind...local nursery had 60% off some of their plants so I took a chanice on some. Got some sedum for outside the pond and an glut astible for a planter on the side of pond.also picked up a northern blue flag iris. At lowes got my creeping jenny. Also with things getting a bit green in the yard I put a few things in the veggie filter till the water plants come in and I can be a little more selective. Put some spearmint...turtles head and trying a small hosta. Also found some creeping myrtle I placed root only in the pond around my planters so they can filter.

Moved a few more rosy red minnows out so have 8 now in the pond.

Got a few more plants this week...mainly to finish the outside in the rock area. Got some succulents, few bulbs, and a couple perennials. Pond plants are suppose to be in this week. Can't wait to get some floaters and a lilly. Also a few more to fill the veggie filter and one more side planter. Moved all fish out to the pond. Amazing how much braver they are when they have a school to travel with together. 20170409_183356.jpg 20170409_183444.jpg 20170409_183939.jpg 20170409_183422.jpg

Can anyone recommend a good hardy lilly (zone 6)? Looking for one that would be good for a small water pond (feature).

I got one at Menards. Off the shelf inside. You open the box, remove the bag and drop the pot into the pond. So far 8 leaves and 2 are on the surface of the water. $10 they had 5 colors to choose from.
