Filter size needed

Hi everyone I have just built a little larger pond it’s 6ft x 5ft approximately 1600 litre I am having a waterfall blade what size filter is recommended it’s about 3ft across bottom of pond and just over 2ft up to blade from what I’ve read it’s says about 4000 litre per hour needed is this right my present filter is 1500 and I don’t think it will be powerful enough any advice is appreciated

general rule of thumb is to turn the water over 1 and 1/2 times per hour, so if 1600 ltr, then 2400 ltr/hr will suffice but you may as well get a more powerful one and adding a tee/wye + ball valves, get TWO feeds. This way you can tailor your waterfall to your vision with the ball valve and any excess goes out the other feed to wherever you want.

Thankyou I forgot to mention my blade is only 45cm so if I get a 3000 lph filter or even go for the 4000 if bigger the better

that's why I mentioned the tee/wye and 2 ball valves; you can send as much water as you want in either direction and if you NEED the full force, you have it.

Yeh I’ll send for them an get the bigger filter thankyou for ur advice this is new to me I’ve had my small pond about 6 months so decided to go a bit bigger my garden is only small as I live in a pensioners bungalow so limited space
