Sounds to me like they may be after eggs deposited among the plant roots.

Sounds like they are either grubbibg for insects or eating roots , it may be too early for eggs yet but then again I'm no goldfish expert .
Either way @Andy41 what your seeing is normal

Thanks, good to know this is normal. It's died down a bit now, so maybe @HARO is also correct, and they were after eggs as well?

@bettasngoldfish... i'm going to get rid of 30-40 goldfish next month. They look good in a group, but there's just too many. I want the focus to be the Koi.
