Beautiful fish! I can see why fishin would like to get the dark one with the orange head, it is striking.

I watched the video and saw all the lovely little fish w/ their pretty colors and then the big huge monster koi swam by.....................how come you don't have a problem w/ that big koi eating up the little fish? You know like sissy says her fish Aggie grabs big frogs, I would think that big fish would eat the smaller ones.

they only eat them as eggs and until they're large enough to be recognized as fish not larvae, and such. this is my understanding and so far it appears that it's true, atleast in my case!

She tried sissy, the fry would swim for their life, then dive into the algae on the side of the pond, wiggle a little and disappear. It was fun to watch.

addy...i guess fish can be like us in that they all have their own personalities. but then again, what size were the fry being chased? at an inch and a half, i would think they should be safe from the koi and goldies; frogs on the other hand....another story? depending on the frogs size! i put my fry in the pond every year and as of yet, i havent seen, much if any losses.

The fry was around an inch, she was not fast enough. Now they are all big enough not to be bothered by her. She was a feeder that survived from last year, currently white with a spot of gold, around 8 inches in length.

Cook koiguy, he looks like a biggy! He's got a green head and I see some green in other area's too. Reminds me of my Chameleons I used to have that would change color slowly.

yeah i found 4 or 5 dead frogs in april. scooped them out. and no sign at all of my big guy this year. he would flop over the edges of a coffee cup saucer almost as big as a pie plate.

No big deal! mistakes can happen once you reach a certain age.(29, I think...I can't remember.) :cheerful:
