Would like your thoughts on the use of statues in your flower gardens, yards or pond area. Wifey is thumbed down while I am thumbs up for a single classy heron aged metal statue for the forthcoming revamped backyard entrance bed. http://www.wayfair.com/Fire-Sense-Male-Crane-Garden-Statue-61482-FRS1345.html. Whether I win that skirmish is yet to be determined.

As I asked in the beginning "Would like your thoughts on the use of statues in your flower gardens, yards or pond area."

I'm personally not much for statues or decorations. I do have a decorative solar light and a windmill, but I try to keep the focus on the plants and the pond. As natural as possible. I have seen some pretty nice statues though. I especially like wooden carvings.

I think one placed nicely would be fine and would not take away from what you already have w/ your pond and plants but it's when there are too many it gets kind of busy looking. Maybe look online for pictures of a heron statue placed in gardens to show Cathy. She may give in if she sees some in action :)

I have a pair of herons. They guard my bog. And maybe scare off the real deal? But they are my only exception to my own "no garden statuary" rule. I like to keep it natural.

Thanks. Think I'm fighting an extremely uphill battle. :wacky:
Lou, just be mature about it. Hold your breath until she gives in!
On a more serious note, though I personally don't go for garden statuary, I have seen gardens WITH statuary that I really liked! I think it's a personal thing. Some of us can pull it off, and some can't. I DO have a spitter in the pond depicting two spawning (?) koi.

I'm with John, some people can pull them off great. I don't have an eye for that stuff so they look like what they are - fake stuff in the yard. BUT if you have a good eye, they can look great.

You could ask her about adding some 3-dimensional art in your yard. Or maybe in effigy, figurine, sculpture or carving perhaps? Run down all the synonyms and maybe you'll get lucky!! :cautious:
