I've got some small goldfish in a newer pond. I've been losing a few almost daily. Two things have happened since they started dying. There's a powder puff tree above my pond that has been dropping buds in the pond. Not sure if there toxic to fish. Also introduced an algae eater fish about the same time. Any ideas.

Hello to all, I'm Jeff. Been lurking for a bit hope I can find an answer. Thanks.

Welcome Jeff!

Can you tell us more about your pond?
Size, filtration, how long has the pond been set up, how long have fish been in it, have you done any water tests?
How many fish, what water temperature?

There are multiple species of trees that are commonly called "powder puff" trees. Do you know the horticultural name of the tree specie? Or can you post a photo?

Still need to know how long your pond has been set up, how many fish and how long the fish have been in there.;)
If it's a fairly recent setup, your fish could be dying from ammonia poisoning.

Sorry new to this. It's been set up for about three weeks since we set it up. I have about 10 small goldfish.

If the fish have been it since new, they be dying from strong ammonia and nitrite levels until the pond has established a biofilm that can handle their waste.
You should perform some water tests to make sure.
API makes an inexpensive master test kit for you to do that. It's available at local pond stores.

You may need also to pick up API's KH/GH and Phosphate test kits separately.
If you're in Florida, you may need the phosphate test kit because of water quality.
