If you have seen any recent pictures since i rebuilt the pond, i have had a chain link fence around it temporarily. Well i finally went and bought the new fence last night and go it put in today.

I have not decided yet, but i will probably remove every other picket so you can see the pond from outside.

I would, that is too nice not to see unless you are inside the fence.

Yeah I'm pretty sure i will on the long side, and leave it closed on the shorter side, it will block the wind that generally comes from that direction.

Good idea 99! You want to be able to enjoy looking at it and you won't even know it's there if you leave the fence solid.

Fixed it! i left the north side completely closed... so it looks a little funny, privacy on one side, and spaced pickets on the other. But the wind always comes from that direction, and the road is that way, so i left it alone.

I think that looks much better! Just makes it look more open and you can actually see the pond now but still keeps the dogs out or whatever else you are trying to keep out.

lets air and light through ,if it was solid it would have seemed more like you were hiding something

I think you were wise to remove every other picket in your fence. This give you a nice view, yet keeps the area somewhat private as well. Was this done for safety reasons or to keep dogs and kids out of the area w/o supervision? Much nicer now. ;)

Nieghbors dog ripped a hole in my liner last year, he thought it was fun to swim in the pond, so that was the main reason i neded a fence after the pond rebuild.
But I also have a 6 year old and a 15 month old, the 6 year old knows better than to go near the pond without permission, but it keeps the little one out.

Ahhhh yes, safety is a big issue with little ones in the house. I hope the latch on the fence gate is also one that even the 6yo. is unable to open. You never know what goes on in the minds of youngsters! Better to be safe than sorry. ;)

I had to do the same thing with my pond for safety reasons. My wife runs a in home state registered daycare. In order to be registered, we had to put a fence around it, and my dads cocker loves to play in water. It jumped in my pond last year and tore apart my lilies and all my other plants I had in it. :banghead3:
