.but in the meantime the honeybees love my Ugly Ring....there is a constant stream of dozens at a time coming to get water.....for some reason they feel comfortable landing on the plants and then going down to get the water..

For that reason alone keep your butt ugly plant ring! Bees are lousy around water they tend to drown.

Bees are lousy around water they tend to drown.

I love seeing the bees in my pond! I have a few small, still areas that tend to grow algae - I leave them alone for the bees to use as a landing pad to get a drink.

I love seeing the bees in my pond! I have a few small, still areas that tend to grow algae - I leave them alone for the bees to use as a landing pad to get a drink.

I have quite a few areas for them to drink from. They love the algae, like landing on it they also like the pea gravel and plants in the bog. I see them in the big pond now and then, but mainly in the lily flower.
