quite a jump in price from koiguys post , I think it was either a mistake and they had to honour the price on Amazon (for a short while or it was a publicity stunt by them to drum up interest in their product addy

Dave. Actually This one is a different model, rated for 6000 gal ponds. The one I posted was for 2000 gal ponds.
The bigger pump size or higher flow rate for pressure filters is more a necessity for the backwashing. It takes more flow to maintain the filter than to maintain the water. EXAMPLE..600 gph may be a nice flow rate. Even ideal for a pressure filter. but manufacturer suggests 1000gph pump.
That is what it takes for an efficient backwash.
