I used 45 mil as the 60 mil is very stiff to make folds and a lot heavier than 45 mil .I did have my pond with roofing membrane and was told the only real difference is they use a chemical to keep the liner from sticking to it's self that is dry and with regular pond liner they use baking soda to keep it from sticking .I live near the good year plant and asked the company about it .They make tires at the plant but got me info .
Yes I did and just hosed it off before using. All is fine using it for many years. Also used some from an irrigation company and that worked great also.
Thanks for the input. My biggest fear at this time is puncture I plan on building rock walls upward of 7 feet and even with the planned underlayment rubber and second layer of underlayment I still have concerns of puncturing. I know repairs are easy but finding a leak behind a stone wall not so easy
Years ago in Michigan, I used 45 mil roofing liner to build a small 5 X 8 X 3' deep pond. It was old scrap stock from a roofer that I got cheap. Rinsed it before installation. and started with 6 feeders, never lost a single one. Pond ran with no problems for about 18 years through freezes and thaws. Then the new owner decided to take it out and out in a Tiki bar.
