Thanks for all your help!!!!

hard to tell by the pics. When you feed do you see two whiskers one on each side of it's mouth? If so that would point toward koi. If Not Goldfish. looking at the pic, I'm leaning more toward goldfish, But I have a koi that looks almost identical only it's fins are shorter so really hard to tell.

Thanks, I think so too, just wondering what type of fish will become of their eggs... We got the fish so long ago; they were actually my mother’s fish (I have taken caring for them over) and she said they were Koi, but the one looks like a big Goldfish to me which is fine. So I really don’t know...

A lot of people are sold gold fish, being told they are koi, or koi told they are gold fish.........The whiskers are the clue to help you out.

Yours is very nice too!

So it turns out they are Goldfish, no whisker here. So I have three Goldfish and one Koi. And the eggs they laid are Goldfish eggs... the Koi is to young.

Thanks for helping me identify my fish. We love them all the same.

Just thinking they are pretty old. The two big ones are at least 12yrs old. We are debating how long ago the pond was put in....

(the little black one is two yrs and is the baby of the two big ones)

If the koi is over a year they can reproduce with the goldfish. Just so it be known. I'm one to say, If you like the fish, they are perfect fish! LOL, BTW, I have read that goldfish can live to 30-40 years of age and koi over 200. So you still got babies.:fish:

Oh boy, here I go again, :fish::fish: You end up with a hybrid carp. Been trying to get that through to someone else.

Good info here. I was going to ask how to classify my 3 babies, koi or goldfish. I first noticed them last October. I don't know where they came from. Either my koi laid eggs, or the eggs came with some plants the pond store gave me. The fish are browinish grey. They just started eating the fish food last week. They are growing like crazy and one is changing light orange on the top.
I'm going out right now to see if they have wiskers.
