ok i tested my filter today and i have a small leak out the bottom drain
should i take off all the silicone and start over or just patch it?
the way it looks to me is the drain is not as flush as the top one
but that could be the way the drum is shaped also..
so when my other brother comes over tomorrom we will work on it

In the past I've had the same problem. I tried patching, but it didn't work for me. I ended up draining, drying, and then re-sealing the spot that leaked.

Happy ponding,

yeah! i think you really misunderstood.. there is no mention of a 4' up pipe anywhere in my build thread. its in the list of parts..about 4' of 1&1/2" pipe total...meaning about a 30" peice for the down pipe and 2 pieces about 9" for the botom pipes.....cut it down and fix it your flow will be better, 'more and stronger!!' ...if the water wants to come out the top of the tee for more than10 seconds or so when you first turn on the pump you can slide a 4 inch peice into the top side

is there any media in that thing?

You've sort of created a down flow model versus an upflow one. At least that's what it looks like from here...

Glad to see it going PS3
I would just put a elbow on the end of the hose coming from the pump and stick it into the 2" stand pipe in the middle of your filter...

ok thanks guys & gals.. i made the pipe shorter a lot shorter so its above
the top of the drum like on koi guys but the pipe was still not stright
so we ran a bracket across the top of the drum and mounted to the drum
and pipe with twist tie thingys so now its level and water pumpimg out
really good this moring the water in the drum was clearer then yesterday
no pea spoup and when the water temp goes up i will put the media in
i read ina book that the water has to be above 55 dregs
and i took the other pump and uv off too many cords lol
more more thing iam useing a mesh bag for the filter lol.
that cage thing i made i lost it lol the mesh is working ok
should i leave the mesh on there, or use a drum filter
that i have allready a foam filter goes over the drum
and the crap and much clings to it
