I think the shubbies you had in there were big enough to breed.
They say shubbies are born black or brownish.

Maybe you have a combo of baby koi or baby Shubbies or koi shubbie mix. Anything is possible w/the fish you had in there.

I just read:

Are koi fish born black?

They can be pretty much any color that koi are typically known for (just not as defined as an adult koi), but they won’t be black. Some varieties of koi are bred to be all black, but unless you stock all black koi in your pond, it’s very unlikely to have all-black babies.
They are mostly white and multi colored a few are brown and black probably 25 percent

We did put crushed flakes but they like trying to eat the larger adult food!!

Count:45-50
Largest: Inch and a half
We have a plan to give them away once they get older

They are so pretty and I would hate to have to give them away! Enjoy them now while they are little. If you get too attached start digging for a bigger pond. We will help watch you do all the work :joyful:

Most likely orange goldfish, some may stay black but most change color.

Those pics of the black fish look like Goldie’s, but could be a koi mixed in there. Hard to say when they are small. Another way besides the presence of barbels is koi have downturned mouths, goldfish have mouths more straight on like most of us picture fish morphology.
