Inherited pond and given it minimal attention but want to real give it a go. Main pond full of green water, plenty of silt on the bottom. Smaller pond (think it's a breeder pool) full of duck weed. Not sure if filtration is any good. Small green box with pump, plenty of electrics. Three pots under the decking which I think is filtration but doesn't seem to work. Three cascade fountains full of fire tree leaves. Where to start, no idea.

Start with getting measurements, and information. Are there any fish? The fish change what can be done and in what order. If no fish, then you can clean out the yuck, change out the water, and get info on how to figure out the filter. I’m no expert there, so I’ll leave filters and pump to the ones who do know. But if you do have fish, I’d start my removal of and dead plants, a slow water change, replace old water with de chlorinated water, and you’ll want to put a rush on a filter. You can get ideas for diy filters if you have a pump, or can get one, just get like a milk crate or plastic laundry basket, and line it with polyfill, sheets of it tend to have less random threads getting lost in the out flow. Set that up so the water goes back into the pond, and when it gets to a point where water isn’t moving well, remove the fill and rinse it out in a bucket of pond water that you’ll then dump on your garden or away from the pond.

Post as much info as you can, others will pitch in. Things like measurements, depth, help us calculate how much water is in the pond, which impacts the size of pump and filters you will need.

When you can post pictures of the ponds, the equipment, any lines you can see and or find. Any equipment names you can find.

Make a drawing of where the stuff is in relation to the ponds so we can get a idea of how it is laid out.

Tried to keep this basic as possible. Two ponds one main and one smaller one. I have split the measurements for main in half due to shape. Box filter is the only one working. See pics.
