Hi guys, pleased to meet you, I have a tiled pond, 20 yrs. old plenty of plants, fountain, healthy goldfish up until now, and suddenly dying. Usually alkaline the pond is going acidic, which we are treating with bicarb soda. We have drained 1/3 3 times added extra pump to increase air and movement and I am now stumped. 2 fish have fat uneven bellies but seem ok. Small fish started dying now they are getting bigger.
There was previously a bit of run off from a shed roof ( metal). There has been a change in flake food a week before the problem but other users of the same batch ( not bag ) have fish that are fine.
I can't think of anything else. Worried.

Darn sorry to hear that, how acidic? ph swings can affect the fish.
I would quit feeding with that bag of food until you figure out what is happening.

I've just been reading about plant life in ponds, it's a worry, I think we have a bit in our pond. Also a tree has recently been cut down near our pond- now more plant growth in the pond - less oxygen at night - what are the steps to fixing this without losing too many fish??

You could add a aerator, get a good bubbler going. If it is string algae you can remove some by hand.

Welcome to the Forum

That's a tough to go through
Like addy said stop feeding until this gets under control
I would be testing and adjusting your Gh & Kh to help get the Ph under control
Keep doing your small water changes & post your water numbers
