We had ours hard wired, run through pvc piping below ground, darn stuff shorted out after a horrendous rain fall, must have a ground fault. So went back to a huge extension cord, the plug in is in the garage, the end at the pond has a pot over the plug, off the ground so no running water can hit it. No heat build up, not the best fix but it works.

My electrician honey promises it is on the high list to be fixed.............we ran some heavy duty wiring though a empty piece of pvc, we buried extras during the build, need him to connect it now.

I put my power cords out side in an old hose I slit the sides on it and tucked the cord inside it and zipped tied it to keep the cord tucked inside it .
