Hi,

I live in central NJ (Edison), and have had my pond running for about 10 years.

It’s an 800-900 gallon pond made of stainless steel. Current filters are a Laguna Bio Falls 5000 fed by a Laguna Max Flo 2400 pump (on bottom of pond). I also have a Laguna Pressure Flo 2100 uvc fed by a Pondmaster Supreme 1200 via a skimmer box. Both feed a waterfall.

I just posted a question about a flesh eating problem we’re having (in the disease section).

Hoping some experienced Koi keepers can offer some advice.

Great site. I hope to become a regular contributor.

I saw the first one on DIY network a couple of months ago

The former owner of the house owned an iron works company. We have stainless steel everywhere... arbors, trellises, lawn edging, roof flashing, etc. kind of crazy. and he did it all 50 years ago. He was ahead of his time.

the pond even has a stainless "rack" that suspends a 4' bluestone boulder in the center of the pond. the fish swim under and around it. A small japanese maple grows out of the boulder.

there is also the wire "dome" that covers the pond and keeps the herons out.

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

here is a pic I found on my phone. not great, but you get the idea.

the pond is 8 feet across and slopes to about 2.5 - 3 feet deep in the center.

the rock only sits about 2-3 inches below the water line.

wow he must have loved his work and nice looking fish ,You may need to think bigger for a pond a a lot of filtration as koi produce a lot of waste and that could be what is causing your problem plus the hot temps .I know my son lives there and he said it has been hotter there than here .I know he works for a metal welder in Perth Amboy and lives in Edison off Woodbridge Ave.near the Highland Park border .He lives down near the Green Derby .
