I started a pond about a 1.5 years ago and had to leave on a deployment to Iraq. Got home and tore it down and started over. Don't know much about ponds so any advise will be very helpful. This is my first winter and don't really know what to do... lol. I like to do DIY projects instead of spending hard earned money. I uploaded pics in my album, take a look...

Thanks,

Zipper

I am so confused with the water testing... Can someone break this down on a lower level for me? I have had my pond up and running about 4 weeks and put fish in it on the 2 week. I tested the water but nothing made sence. I am going to test again tommorow after the rain stops. The filter is a DIY bio filter and I did put some good bacteria in the filter. Also can I put too much good bacteria in or is it better to load it up with it?

Thanks

4 weeks is not very old for a pond and its slow to stabilize in cooler weather
Test it in a few more weeks and don't worry about it so much

I agree, I don't use the artificial bacteria myself. Time, patience and testing is your best friend. If the nitrate level gets too high, just do a 25% water change and wait. It may take several months with the cold weather.
