Not sure I love the idea as things are going pretty good right now

I would use it up if you've already bought it - it won't hurt. But there's a lot of evidence that shows that it really doesn't work. Save the money and buy a few more plants! ;)

My neighbor dumps $50 of bacteria into his pond each month. I instead use that money for beer. It's not hard understanding how to have a self sustaining pond. When you are ready, we'll be here for you. I've only been here for a little over a year and gained so much knowledge, people here are the best out of any forum I've been on.

I am close to the Toronto area. And thanks everyone for the really nice responses. Took at peak at all your ponds as well.....I am amazed at the effort and dedication you all put into this. I am hoping to also get to your knowledge levels.......I put 6 fish in the pond 2 weeks ago and haven't seen them in 2 days. There is a little koi cave so they may be hiding......but I hope they are still there!
Are you feeding them? Even the most timid eventually come up for floating food. Maybe it's the net floating on top. I remember when I first got my heron net, they didn't like that I floated the net on top, when I stretched it over the water, they were much happier.

Anyone else experience this type of foam in their ponds? Been scooping it out almost every night but it comes back. Some of it is a bit brown. I have my iogen set to 3 (thinking there was too much copper...but that setting is low). Only thing going in there is tap water with dechlorinator and the weekly beneficial bacteria.

Also, haven’t seen fish in 3 days :( . Don’t know if something came and ate/spooked them or they are hiding.

White Foam or bubbles on the water are Protein Buildup (or called DOCs, which stands for ‘dissolved organic carbon’).
